I missed a week last week, yes. So maybe I have a little more to talk about this week.

  • Star Wars: The Force Awakens was a very good picture. After all the hype subsided, I opened up to more of the problems of the film but still acknowledge it's well-made. Certainly in my top five, and I will have that list filled in a few days.
  • Between birthday and Christmas, I got a modest haul. It's stuff I'm sure I'll use, though, and I did get Xenoblade Chronicles X. An hour into it, which is probably not even chipping the surface of the game from what I've read.
  • Steven Universe returns early January. That's always nice to see.
  • It continues to be cold and wet over here. Lots of snow fell earlier today but it will probably melt in a few days. Though it will be muddy when it does.
  • I've also finished Wario Land II. It's a good enough time to recommend on the 3DS Virtual Console. Along with Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards on the Wii U Virtual Console.
Yup, a little more to talk about. Maybe I'll present my year-end lists in a few days.

Just a week until the movie. Still kind of comprehending that, I think. Not a lot has gone on here since last week, but I will say a few things regardless.

  • I finally got my hands on Super Mario Maker and found the tool is as amusing as everyone says it is. My dreams of loading a level with things that shoot Hammer Bros. is a reality! Also made it to the last star world of Puzzle & Dragons: Super Mario Bros. and think I can power through that last bit to the end.
  • I had to skip out on the office Christmas party to help my mom sell some wares. Well, sell isn't the right word since to my knowledge I didn't unload a single thing, Bit disheartening.
  • I slipped in viewings of San Andreas and Spy this past week. Both movies had their moments if a difference in quality. Know what you're getting into with these and I think you could have a good time.
  • I might have an opportunity to do something cool at work. I suppose I'll say more if it goes through.
  • Cardinals are 11-2 and clinch a playoff spot after a tense game last night. They're probably taking years off my life.
Two weeks to Christmas, less than that until I turn 24. That's a bit exciting.
Now to get some rest for tomorrow,

  • Watching: Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives
  • Drinking: Coke Zero
Until what, you wonder? Two weeks until Star Wars: The Force Awakens and three weeks until Christmas. I'm quite excited for both.

Now onto what's new:

  • Work continues to go well with a full month behind me. No major incidents have occurred, I'm punctual and polite, and I'm doing my best each day. I'm certainly grateful for it.
  • Movies slowed down quite a bit in November, but I'm picking up the pace again. This past week's highlights were Spectre and The Peanuts Movie, with both getting a solid recommend from yours truly. Since it's December, I rewatched a trio of Christmas movies: How the Grinch Stole Christmas, The Santa Clause, and Mickey's Once Upon a Christmas. Each one also gets a solid recommend. I'm up to 195 for the year, according to Letterboxd.
  • The special worlds in Puzzle & Dragons: Super Mario Bros. are providing a stiff challenge. Not a lot of games I've played lately and I'm trying to abstain from spending too much on myself in the coming weeks. Certainly hope to have more updates here, of course.
  • I was by myself for the past few days and realized how odd it feels to have so much freedom. Still limits, but it's the first time I've had a vehicle and money to spend. It was quite nice.
  • Cardinals are 9-2, which is cool. They're pretty battered and are at St. Louis this week, which is not too cool.
It's getting colder outside so I hope you guys are staying warm.

Hope you guys had a nice holiday. Mine certainly went well even if there were a few bumps. Nice to know that the holiday season will be in full swing very soon. And before that, time for some updates.

  • Concluded another week of work and got a full paycheck. Felt very nice to get compensated for helping people out, and I hope it's a start. I certainly think I can do more than I currently do and would like to prove it.
  • A little less time for movies this week, although I did sneak in a viewing of the much-maligned Pixels. I thought it was okay. Nothing spectacular. Check it out if you're mildly curious and can find it for cheap.
  • I cleared the main game in Puzzle & Dragons: Super Mario Bros. Edition and am prepping for all the extra worlds. I did sneak in a rental of Kirby Triple Deluxe and enjoyed it a fair bit. I realized my brother from medical school bought a PS4 sometime ago and I got to spend a few hours with that. Star Wars: Battlefront and Grand Theft Auto V made for some good laughs earlier. He did say he will be leaving the system behind for a few weeks due to a packed schedule, so maybe I could sneak in a few other games before then.
That's pretty much all I can think of. It's been a slow week. And it's late. And I have somewhere to go tomorrow. Hoping next week is a little more exciting!

Hey all. I'm back with another week of updates and musings.

  • I've been speculating for a bit but now it's confirmed by the creator himself: Gravity Falls is ending after this season. It's certainly a bittersweet revelation, and all I'm wondering now is how exactly everything will conclude. I suppose we'll find out in the coming weeks. Come to think of it, last time a show I really enjoyed getting the ending announcement right before Thanksgiving was six years ago. (Mighty B!) Least I have many episodes of Steven Universe to look forward to.
  • Speaking of Gravity Falls, I rented the 3DS title Legend of the Gnome Gemulets and cleared it in one go. It's a fine 2D platformer but I can really only recommend it to fans of the show. It's a slightly slower Rayman Origins with plenty of familiar sights from the show. Though I would certainly point at other offerings on the system before recommending this one.
  • Thanks to eShop credit from a very kind friend, I was able to get the Puzzle & Dragons two-pack on the 3DS. Now that I know how to play the game, it's going much more smoothly.
  • I watched three movies from 2015 in the past week: It Follows, a very strong recommend because of its atmosphere, plot, and soundtrack. I gave it five stars on Letterbox; Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2, the infamous movie/meme-bait that I give a very weak recommend and three stars to; and The Man from U.N.C.L.E., another solid spy film in a year packed with them, which I give a solid recommend and four stars. Four weeks until Star Wars: The Force Awakens...
  • Work continues to be pleasant and informative. We had the office Thanksgiving potluck this week, which was very nice. Short week next week since the paper is printed a day early for the holiday.
  • The family will be converging here in the coming week, so my mood may take a turn for the worse. I certainly hope to be able to weather the storm...
  • Cardinals are 7-2 after a tense win the other night and host Cincinnati on Sunday night. Still slightly nervous.
That's that. Hoping you guys are having a swell week. If I don't talk to you again before next Thursday, may you have a happy Thanksgiving.
