Yup, I have a BA in English from Arizona State. Final GPA was 3.43, enough for Cum Laude honors. Now comes finding a job, which I hope to do by the end of the summer. Aiming for one in the Phoenix valley as I've grown quite attached to that area.
Now onto other things...
- I watched all of the Mad Max movies in preparation for the newest entry, Mad Max: Fury Road, which was fantastic. Even if most of the movie is one big chase, it's surprising how much variety goes into it. The "slow" moments are where one has to catch their breath, I say. Ranking them from highest to lowest, I'd go Fury Road, Road Warrior, the original, and then Beyond Thunderdome.
- Last night I watched Song of the Sea and then watched it again this morning before sending the disc back to Netflix. From the opening frames of animation to the bittersweet end, this movie was a joy to watch. Through two viewings there are minor nitpicks with the story, but those almost non-issues aside I have no problems with this movie. If I had seen it in 2014, it would have been my favorite movie of that year. The strongest of recommends.
- In preparation for the new Pixar movie Inside Out, I'm on a quest to watch all of the previous Pixar movies and record my thoughts on Letterboxd (mandatory plug: letterboxd.com/Hoagmaster/). There have been varying degrees of enjoyment, but so far my high bar is a tie between Toy Story 2 and The Incredibles while the lowest bar is Cars.
- I finished all of the main Ace Attorney games. A very enjoyable romp that took me nearly five months. Not sure if I'll pursue any of the other games right away, but I am glad I played them.
- I'm fully caught up on Steven Universe, which continues to be a delight. Entered the conversation for my favorite TV shows.
Well... Until a couple of weeks, I guess. E3 2015 is right around the corner!

Cody's Top 10 (and Bottom 1) Films of 2017
The first full year of the Trump era is behind us. Only seven more to go! But even in these tumultuous times, I got to see quite a few movies this year and decided on my favorites (and one worst).
10. Wonder Woman - More than boasting a different color palette than the other recent DC movies and one of my favorite action scenes of the year, it was the wholesome performance by its star Gal Gadot that made this my favorite comic book movie of the year.
9. Blade Runner 2049 - Harrison Ford skipped the next chapter of the Star Wars reunion to hang out with Ryan Gosling, and I think he made the right move. The film introduced new pieces of lore
New Danny Phantom (sort of) in 2017??
If you're like me, your first thought was "Say whaaaaaaat??"
Granted, it's only for a few minutes and more of an ad for Mr. Hartman's upcoming show but I must admit it was pretty nostalgic to see. My first online fandom being briefly resurrected with some advancements in animation, most notably high definition, did bring some unexpected delight on this day.
Will it go anywhere? I've been on this ride enough times to say probably not, but hope springs eternal, I suppose.

Starting off with my song of choice from this game.
Sometimes summer breaks are defined by one piece of fun.
A certain trip, a certain location, or a certain object could have dominated an entire summer, and thinking about it takes you back to that time frame. It may not be the item itself, it could be that emotional response that was stirred as a result.
Rocket launchers and pinball grenades made such an impression on me at a younger age. Such items were first shown to me in Rare’s follow-up N64 FPS, Perfect Dark.
People looked like this once.
GoldenEye was not the first console FPS, but it was the first one to leave a significant i

Starting off with my song of choice from this game.
(Once again, I’m fiddling with release dates here. Lets me talk about something, so it’s okay!)
Lately I’ve been writing about how I’ve been introduced to a game series. But I think what is even more important than an introduction is the entry that gets you hooked.
Star Fox 64 and The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time were both games that I enjoyed and would hold in high regard for a long time, but future entries of varying quality would still get a fair shake from me. The same can be said for many of the other franchises I’ve come across. You have a chance to g
